The Chicago White Sox, as expected, have optioned top prospect Eloy Jimenez to Triple-A Charlotte.
Jimenez, who is ranked as one of the top five prospects in all of baseball by numerous publications, will likely be called up to the big league roster after the 2019 season begins, as the White Sox will secure an extra year of team control by keeping this season from being a full year of service time.
In 108 minor league games last season, Jimenez clobbered 28 home runs and drove in 75 RBI, and batted .337 in 456 plate appearances.
The White Sox also sent down right-handed pitcher Dylan Cease, pitcher Jordan Stephens, and catcher Seby Zavala, according to a press release.
