Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jiménez has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a right ulnar nerve contusion, the team announced Wednesday.
Jiménez suffered the injury while attempting to field a fly ball during Tuesday’s game against the Kansas City Royals. He is batting .244 this season with 17 home runs and 39 RBIs in 67 games.
The White Sox replaced the outfielder on the active roster with Ryan Goins, whom they called up from Triple-A Charlotte. Goins has a .322 batting average and 10 home runs this season with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights, and has driven in 48 RBIs.
In a related roster move, the White Sox also outrighted right-handed pitcher Juan Minaya to Charlotte.
