Chicago Cubs fans were all aboard the Bryce Harper bandwagon when he hit free agency over the offseason, but apparently his decision to sign with the Philadelphia Phillies has turned that adoration into disgust.
Throughout the first two games of the Phillies’ series against the Cubs at Wrigley Field, fans have booed Harper every time he has stepped up to the plate, and have even chanted the words “overpaid” and “overrated” at the star outfielder.
On Tuesday night, Harper got a measure of revenge on the Wrigley faithful. After the conclusion, Harper pretended that he was going to toss the ball into the crowd, but instead rifled it over the bleachers and toward the rooftops across the street on Sheffield:
While Harper and the Phillies took the opener of the series on Monday, the Cubs exacted their revenge on Tuesday, as Javier Báez notched a walk-off single to even the series at a game apiece with two games remaining.
