Bulls Pick Up Options on Butler, Teague

The Chicago Bulls have picked up the fourth year player option on Jimmy Butler and third year option on Marquis Teague

The Chicago Bulls announced on Wednesday that they’ve picked up the fourth year option on Jimmy Butler, and the third year option on Marquis Teague.

By exercising the respective player options, both players will be under contract with the Bulls through the 2014-15 season.

Butler appeared in all 82 games for the Bulls and posted season averages of 8.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 26 minutes per game. He also shot 47 percent from the field, 38 percent from beyond the three-point line, and 80 percent from the free throw line. During the 2013 NBA Playoffs, Butler started in all 12 games and averaged 13.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game while averaging 41 minutes per contest.

Butler posted 20 points, five steals, three rebounds and three assists in the Bulls season opening loss to the Miami Heat on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Teague saw action in 48 games last season and averaged 2.1 points, 1.3 assist and one rebound per game in 8.2 minutes per contest. The second year guard also appeared in eight playoffs games for Chicago last year.
