Bulls sign veteran Hunter

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Bulls signed guard Lindsey Hunter on Thursday, bringing the 15-season veteran back to the league.

Hunter spent last season with Detroit, averaging 2.4 points and 1.4 assists in 24 games. He played 12 of his seasons with the Pistons (1993-2000, 2003-08), who selected him 10th overall in the 1993 NBA Draft out of Jackson State.

The 37-year-old veteran will help offset the loss of guard Kirk Hinrich, who is expected to be sidelined for three months after undergoing surgery for a broken thumb.

In 896 career games with the Pistons, Bucks, Lakers and Raptors, Hunter has averaged 8.8 points and 2.7 assists. He was a member of NBA championship teams with the Lakers in 2002 and the Pistons in 2004.
