As the southeast part of the United States continues to watch what will happen with Hurricane Florence, the National Hurricane Center said Isaac weakened and was downgraded to a tropical storm by late Monday.
Isaac was about 960 miles east of the Lesser Antilles with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph, according to the latest NHC advisory.
The storm was moving west at 16 mph. This motion is expected to continue through the end of the week, and Isaac should move across the Lesser Antilles and into the eastern Carribean Sea on Thursday.

Little change in strength is forecast to be at or near hurricane strength as it approaches the Lesser Antilles later this week.
Isaac is expected to produce total rainfall of 2 to 4 inches with isolated amounts bear 6 inches near the Leeward Islands, with 1 to 2 inches anticipated across the Windward Islands, according to the NHC.
There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
