'World's Largest' Corn Maze Features Epic Hawks Design

The maze covers 28 acres and features the Blackhawks logo, two hockey players, the Chicago skyline and “Champions 2015.”

The “world’s largest” corn maze now has a design fit for champions.

Richardson Adventure Farm, a Spring Grove-based farm that claims to be home to the world's largest corn maze, made a last-minute switch on this year’s design, changing it from an Alice in Wonderland tribute to one that honors the 2015 Stanley Cup Champions.

George Richardson said the corn maze is typically cut into the field before the hockey season is even over, but heavy rainfall this year delayed the process.

“When they finally won the Stanley Cup we called our maze designer, ‘I know you’re going to kill me, but could we switch our whole entire design,’” Richardson said.

The farm was given two days to submit their new design and sure enough, it worked. The farm owners received permission from the Blackhawks to use their logo and within a week, the design was cut into the field.

The maze covers 28 acres and features the Blackhawks logo, two hockey players, the Chicago skyline and “Champions 2015.” In total, there are more than 9 miles of trails within the maze, Richardson said.

“We knew the Blackhawks design would be really cool,” Richardson said. “We’re very excited.”

The maze will be open from Aug. 29 through Nov. 1.
