A person was struck by a Metra train after trying to take pictures on the tracks Saturday morning.
The female -- whose age was not immediately known -- was struck by a Metra train about 8:50 a.m. at the 27th Street Station, near 27th Street and Ellis Avenue, a Metra spokeswoman said.
According to police, the person was on the tracks trying to take a picture. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a leg injury, officials said.
The spokeswoman said the woman was pushed back to the platform during the incident.
Train no. 112, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:44 a.m. was stopped near 27th Street and would be delayed for an unknown amount of time. A second train, set to arrive in the city at 8:49 a.m., was also stopped behind train no. 112, officials said.
A Metra Electric District alert said "extensive delays are expected."
