According to police, the incident occurred in Zion about 9 p.m. near Route 173 and Green Bay Road. Police say that they received a call of a possible intoxicated motorist, and they located the vehicle in the parking lot of a CVS drugstore.

One squad car pulled in behind the parked car while another pulled alongside the vehicle on the passenger side. Police then asked the woman, identified as 57-year-old Nina Allen, to step out of the vehicle, and they say that she then backed into one of the squad cars.

There is some concern along the Kankakee River that ice jams could cause flooding, and NBC 5’s Charlie Wojciechowski has the details on how the community, and companies, are fighting back.

Officers say that Allen then rammed her car repeatedly into the police vehicle, and then she allegedly drove her car at least three times into the wall of the store. The SUV ultimately smashed through the side of the building and drove nearly 30 feet into the store before coming to a stop.

No one inside the store was injured.

The building will be closed for “some time” due to the damage, according to police.
