The NFL's injury bug has hit Bourbonnais. During Monday's training camp session, defensive end Turk McBride was carted off the field. The Bears are reporting he has a ruptured Achilles tendon.
McBride signed with the Bears in March after two seasons with the Saints. He has 9.5 sacks over his six-season career and was expected to add depth to the Bears defensive line. The Bears already had to do some juggling to ensure D-line depth last week after Sedrick Ellis unexpectedly retired and the team signed Jamaal Anderson.
McBride is the latest player to go down with a serious injury in the opening days of training camp.
Over the weekend, an injury bug hit the NFL like a hurricane. Philadelphia's Jeremy Maclin and Denver's Dan Koppen tore their ACLs. Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta had surgery after he dislocated his hip.
