Chicago Police say the release of surveillance video has helped spark leads in the case of an armed robbery of a South Side beauty supply store Monday.
A man and a woman pretended to be shopping for human hair extensions at John's Beauty Supply (11109 S. Western Ave.) when they pointed a handgun at the two clerks and pepper-sprayed both employees.
The robbers stole cash from the register, but it's believed they targeted the expensive human hair extensions, which are imported from India and cost hundreds of dollars a bundle.
The male robber is described as a black male, aged 18-22 years old, around 6-feet-2 inches tall and 200 pounds with brown eyes, a medium complexion and black hair cut in a fade. He was wearing a red sweatshirt with a design and orange jeans.
The female robber was described as a black female in her mid-20s, around 5-feet-3 inches tall and 160 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. She was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone with information is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8273.
