Three children were inside an SUV that was stolen on the South Side on Tuesday morning.
The children were found a short time later sitting on a porch about a mile and a half from where the SUV was stolen and they appeared not to be harmed, police said.
The 2000 black Chevrolet Suburban was stolen from 71st Street and East Indiana Avenue about 11:35 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien.
"Just a short time later" the children were found on the 1500 block of East 72nd Street, O'Brien said. "It appears they were dropped off at a porch there."
Police are with the children, who will be taken to an area hospital as a precaution, O'Brien said. The children "all appear to be in good condition," he said.
The ages of the children were not immediately known.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
