Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Dolton Mother: Source

An arrest has been made in the shooting death of a Dolton mother who was driving her four children home from daycare late last month, a source tells NBC 5.

According to the source, a teen was arrested in Chicago on Wednesday in connection with the death of Marshia Bowman last month in suburban Dolton.

Bowman, 40, was shot in the head Aug. 21 as she was driving her girls — ages 1, 4, 8 and 9 — near the intersection of Sibley and Chicago roads, blocks from their home, according to community activist and Dolton trustee Andrew Holmes.

She crashed her minivan into a tree about 7 p.m., and was taken to a hospital, where she died two days later, authorities said. None of her kids were hurt in the incident.

Dolton police believe the shooter may have been targeting a vehicle in front of Bowman’s.
