Single and Looking? Try Group Runs!

With Valentine's Day rapidly approaching, it seems like reminders are everywhere for those still rocking the solo status on Feb. 14.

But if you're single, looking, and active, maybe it's time to try a running group. Last spring, style blog Refinery29 asked a Chicago-based dating consultant for tips on where to meet singles in the Windy City. Among the coffee shops and art galleries, she picked fun runs as a great place to meet people with similar interests.

But if you're still not sure how to navigate that seemingly scary world of group runs, you can check out this About.com guide to help you "Find Romance Through Running".

They even point you to FitnessSingles.com and RunningSingles.com too.

You can try out individual stores' group runs (like Fleet Feet Chicago's schedule for all three locations), or through sites like Meetup.com: there's the Chicago Running Meetup, Uptown Runners, Chicago Loop Runners, the Chitown Social Running/Dinner/Brunch Club, among so many more.

Road Runners Club of America has a hearty list of groups statewide, and if you have the will, you can even start your own group like our friends over at 3Run2 (or join them thrice weekly).

There are so many ways to meet people in Chicago, and if you're looking to find a valentine before Valentine's, why not use your love of running to snag yourself a training buddy and maybe more?
