Shots were fired on the Dan Ryan Expressway late Thursday night, leaving part of the roadway shut down as police investigated.
According to Illinois State Police, the shooting took place around 11:45 p.m. on the southbound Dan Ryan at 43rd street.
A green Volkswagon was shot at but police said no injuries were reported.
Shell casings were found at the scene but no one was in custody as of Friday morning.
The southbound lanes of roadway were shut down for nearly three hours from 35th Street to 43rd Street, authorities said.
