Authorities now say that catastrophic machine failure, rather than an explosion, is to blame for injuries to seven workers at a Wisconsin foundry.
Saukville police Sgt. Robert Ramthun said early Tuesday that the cause of the catastrophic machine failure on Monday at the Johnson Brass & Machine Foundry is under investigation but that it wasn't criminal.
Authorities initially said an explosion apparently caused molten metal to be thrown about the room.
Ramthun says four of the seven workers were taken to the burn unit at Columbia St. Mary's hospital. The other three were also treated at hospitals.
Saukville Fire Chief Gilly Schultz said Monday that the incident happened at around 4 p.m. while workers were pouring molten brass into a cast.
Saukville is about 30 miles north of downtown Milwaukee.
