Police: One Dead, One Seriously Injured in Single-Car Crash in Goose Island

The vehicle struck a pole on West Division Street

A man was killed and another seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Saturday morning in the Goose Island neighborhood.

At about 6 a.m., Michael McArdle, 27, was driving a 2007 Cadillac eastbound in the 1100 block of West Division when he lost control of the car and it struck a pole, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

McArdle, of the 9700 block of South Winchester, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:43 a.m., authorities said.

The other occupant, a 28-year-old man, was also taken to Northwestern, where he is in serious condition, police said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
