Police Cite Megabus Driver for Speeding in Indiana Crash

Nineteen passengers on the bus suffered non-life-threatening injures in the April 13 crash

Indiana State Police have cited the driver of a Megabus that crashed with a semitrailer on Interstate 65 in central Indiana last week for speeding.

State Police also said Tuesday that the bus showed no signs of mechanical problems. Nineteen of the 63 passengers on the bus suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the April 13 crash near Edinburgh in Johnson County.

It was the fourth Megabus crash in Indiana since October. The report also found the bus had the incorrect U.S. Department of Transportation number.

The driver, 50-year-old Kimberly Lane, of Dolton, Ill., was cited for driving too fast given the conditions. State police say Megabus willingly turned over maintenance logs and other data.

A Megabus spokesman didn't immediately respond to an email seeing comment.
