You may have to forget freebie Sundays when it comes to parking in certain Chicago neighborhoods.
The Chicago Sun Times reports that Mayor Rahm Emanuel will introduce an ordinance in April that will restore parking to certain areas in Lakeview, Wicker Park, Bucktown, Lincoln Park and Portage Park.
Aldermen Scott Waguespack (32nd), Tom Tunney (44th) and John Arena (45th) are leading the push to overturn free Sunday parking in response to small business owners who complain about the lack of parking space turnover on one of their busiest days of the week.
Free Sunday parking was part of Emanuel's renegotiation of the controversial parking meter deal, which exchanged free Sundays for extended paid parking hours in River North.
The three aldermen say the renegotiated deal allowed individual lawmakers to opt out for their individual ward, but complained City Hall was slow to respond, the Sun Times reports.
