Getting a drink in Chicago just got a little easier.
A Boston-based startup company called Drizly launched an app in Chicago Thursday that promises alcohol delivery to your doorstep in 20-40 minutes.
The company -- which dubs itself the Amazon of alcohol -- partners with local liquor stores to obtain the product, and offers delivery to the South Loop, Loop, West Loop, River North, Gold Coast, Streeterville, Wrigleyville, Lakeview, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Wicker Park and Bucktown.
Drizly reps say the booze costs the same as buying it in the store, but there is a $20 minimum per order, and of course, a tip for the driver. The menu of available liquor is built into the app and payment is made directly on your device.
The company says it makes its money from monthly fees it receives from the participating liquor stores.
The app won't be able to help you with that late-night after-party because delivery service is limited to the same hours the liquor stores are open.
Chicago joins New York City, the Hamptons and Boston as major areas serviced by the company.
The app is available for download on Apple and Android devices. Chicago customers can receive $10 off during the month of May by entering the code WELCOMECHI.
