A judge on Wednesday set bail at $750,000 for a Chicago woman charged with trying to kidnap a 3-year-old girl from a store on the city's Northwest Side.
Jeannette Roldan, 44, was charged Tuesday with aggravated kidnapping for attempting to kidnap a 3-year-old girl from a Northwest Side pharmacy Monday, police said.
Sana Patel walked out of a CVS Pharmacy, at 3311 N. Pulaski Rd., about 2:30 p.m. The girl had been playing inside by the doors of the store while family members shopped. A security camera showed a woman talking with the girl, and then leaving the store with her, police said. The girl was found after a seven-hour search.
Jeanette Roldan, of the 3900 block of West Wellington Avenue, was charged Tuesday with aggravated kidnapping of a child under 13, according to police. She will appear for a bond hearing Wednesday at 9 a.m.
Police said Roldan lives in the same northwest side neighborhood as the store.
Sana was safely found in an alley near North Kostner and West Wellington avenues about 9:20 p.m. after a call was received from a citizen, according to police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
After being found, Sana was taken to Children’s Memorial Hospital for observation.
"She appears to be OK," said Mirabelli.
