The Michelin Guide has announced the Chicago recipients of its 2015 Bib Gourmands, dropping the number of restaurants honored to 59.
Ten restaurants were dropped from the list this year after 69 restaurants were named last year.
The list traditionally comes out the week before the announcement of the anticipated Michelin Guide Chicago 2015, which designates a star status to select restaurants. The company compiles its list using a team of three anonymous food inspectors and represent restaurants that serve two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less.
There were 11 newcomers to the list this year, including A10, Azzurra EnoTavola, Beatrix, Carriage House, The Dawson, Dusek’s, Herb, Parachute, Table Donkey and Stick, Untitled and TWO.
Several restaurants remained on the list this year after being named last year.
Among those were Balena, Girl & the Goat, GT Fish & Oyster, Maude’s Liquor Bar and Purple Pig.
Restaurants named to the Bib Gourmand list are not eligible for stars, which means some of the restaurants that were dropped from the Gourmand list this year may be getting even bigger news next week.
