Maurice Tousant is charged with first-degree attempted murder

A West Side man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and ordered held in lieu of $1 million bond after he allegedly fired an assault rifle at a Garfield Park home.

The assault weapon was an AK-47.

Maurice Tousant, of the 4300 block of West West End Avenue, was arrested Wednesday and charged with one count each of attempted first-degree murder and discharging a firearm at an occupied building, police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety said.

Tousant is accused of using an assault rifle to fire several shots at a woman’s home in the morning hours of April 3.

The woman, who lived in the 2800 block of West Monroe Street, was not hurt.

Tousant is scheduled to appear in court on April 27.
