Man Stabbed to Death in Flossmoor Apartment

A man was killed in a stabbing Tuesday in south suburban Flossmoor.

About 8 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 2500 block of Central Drive for reports of a “disturbance,” according to Flossmoor police.

Three people met the officers outside and told them someone inside the apartment had been stabbed during a fight, police said.

Inside, officers found Jordan Averyheart, 28, with several stab wounds, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. He lived in Hazel Crest.

The three people who met the officers outside of the apartment were detained for questioning, police said.

Flossmoor police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force were investigating.
