As if bowling a near-perfect game wasn't hard enough under normal circumstances, an Illinois man set a record for doing it backward.
"Andrew Cowen scored 280 points in a single game of backwards bowling," RecordSetter.com writes. "He completed 10 straight strikes during the attempt."
Per the site's rules of record-setting, Cowen submitted video of the feat completed at Don Carter Lanes in Rockford, and it looks as amazing as it sounds.
Cowen grabs a ball then turns away from the lane and backs into place. He checks his footing, winds up, twists his hand and releases the ball behind his back. Miraculously the ball sails toward the pins, and Cowen seems to be able to tell, without turning around, whether he got the strike.
Even more incredible, in one frame, he picks up a single-pin spare. Backward.
The rules state Cowen's score had to be from one ten-pin bowling game in one lane. He had to use a regulation-sized ball and pins, as well as standard scoring system.
In the comment section, Cowen writes that he wants to learn more about the backward technique from like-minded bowlers. In answer to another commenter asking whether his hand hurts more while bowling backward, he says it doesn't take any more abuse than when he bowls forwards.
