City Has Half-Off Valentines for Scofflaws

City offers discount on parking tickets and other fees

Valentine's Day is around the corner. Are you getting something for the City of Chicago? Why not? The city's already got something for you...

From now until Feb. 14, drivers can get 50% off penalties for tickets issued before January 1, 2007.

In addition, boot, tow, and storage fees can be waived on a previously booted vehicle if your vehicle is no longer in the city's possession.

And the pretty bow on top? Default fees can be waived also.

Starting February 15, drivers will have their cars booted after just two unpaid tickets, so it may be in some people's interest to take advantage of this deal. You know who you are.

For details and payment options, visit the Department of Revenue's website.

Matt Bartosik, former blogger of The Chicago Traveler and editor of Off the Rocks' next issue, is great at wrapping presents but not so good at shopping for them.
