A gas main break caused a Hazmat response and forced evacuations on Chicago's South Side Thursday morning.
The break took place in the 600 block of East 91st Place in the city's Burnside neighborhood, the Chicago Fire Department tweeted just before 9 a.m.
The situation prompted a Level 2 hazardous materials response and a precautionary evacuation of homes in the area, as well as a lockdown and shelter-in-place at a nearby school, officials said.
The closest school in the area is Burnside Elementary Scholastic Academy.
It was not immediately clear what caused the break. No injuries were reported in the incident, authorities said.
Just before 11 a.m., authorities said the break was secured and the leak had stopped.
