Daley Lands Coca-Cola Gig

Richard M. Daley landed another job.

Coca-Cola Co. elected the former mayor to its board of directors effective immediately, the company said Thursday. As part of the job Daley also will serve on Coca-Cola's committee on directors and corporate governance.

"Mr. Daley brings significant public policy expertise and experience in creating sustainable growth opportunities for businesses and communities to our Company," said Muhtar Kent, Coca-Cola Company chairman and CEO. "His experience and insights will be invaluable as we continue to work to grow our business and invest in the fabric of the communities we serve."

Daley isn't exactly staying idle during retirement.

He serves as a senior adviser to JPMorgan Chase, where he will chair the new "Global Cities Initiative," and a managing principal of Tur Partners LLC. He's also of counsel at Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, the law firm that helped negotiate Chicago's controversial parking meter deal, and a senior fellow at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.

Daley recently lost his wife, former Chicago First Lady Maggie Daley, to cancer.
