Say it Ain't Snow

It's only the beginning of what's always a too-long winter

Many Chicagoans saw their first snowfall last night.

It didn't amount to much, but there was about a tenth of an inch of snow in some spots. It was argueably a lovely sight and the city skyline looked like a post card.

In the northern suburbs, like Northbrook and Lindenhurst, the scene was much the same.

More light flurries are expected off and on in the Chicago area on Monday.

The small taste of winter had many drivers thinking about warmer destinations. Those would not include Michigan or Northwest Indiana, where up to a foot of snow is expected late Monday and into Tuesday.

Areas around LaPorte, Ind., are under a severe weather alert, as lake effect snow is in the forecast.
