Temps Could Be in the 40s Wednesday Morning

We're in the dog days of summer, right?

Tell yourself that when you wake up early Wednesday morning, when the temperature could be in the mid- to upper-40s.

We hate to point it out, but a drop of a few more degrees and we'd be telling you about a frost warning.

A strong high pressure system to the north on Tuesday brought winds from the NNE and kept  temperatures almost 10 degrees below normal. That wind flow pattern prompted the National Weather Service to issue a rip tide warning for Lake Michigan.

As the winds ease inland and skies clear, the temperatures could fall overnight into the 40s before rebounding a bit.

Wednesday will be cool with more sun than clouds, but the mercury still likely won't rise to a typical mid-August level.
