Loyola’s run through the NCAA tournament came to an end on Saturday, but the teams the Ramblers inspired made it clear that they were still proud of the squad.
The Ramblers, who had reached their first Final Four since 1963, fell by a score of 69-57 to the Michigan Wolverines, and Chicago’s sports teams expressed their pride in Loyola’s incredible run:
“You made our city proud,” the Cubs tweeted.
The Ramblers won four games in the tournament, becoming just the fourth-11 seed to reach the Final Four since seeding began in the 1970’s. Their incredible run inspired Chicago and captivated the nation, but a title wasn’t in the cards as the Wolverines prevailed.
