Cat Owners, Beware

Parvovirus can affect cats as well as dogs

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, the risk for infection with CPV-2c and other variants of the canine parvovirus is highest when large numbers of dogs and cats are housed together in close confinement, WBBM radio reported.

Parvovirus is highly contagious and can be devastating in kennel and shelter conditions.

Dr. Nir says vaccination is key.
