Bond has been denied for a 17-year-old boy who faces charges of murder and attempted murder for a stabbing at a high school
Christian Gonzalez, of the 4000 block of South Talman, was charged Friday with stabbing a fellow student to death and wounding another student at a Southeast Side alternative high school.
Gonzalez fatally stabbed Chris Wormely, 17, at 7:30 a.m. Thursday inside AMIkids Infinity Chicago high school at 10211 S. Crandon, authorities allege. A 16-year-old boy also was stabbed and is recovering from his wounds. Prosecutors said there was also a third victim who was injured when he tried to intervene.
Defense attorney Kent Delgado said Gonzalez had attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and bipolar disorder, according to a report in Chicago Tribune. Delgado also said that Gonzalez alleged that Wormely had bullied him and he had stayed home as a result, Tribune reported.
The attack occurred while the victims were waiting in line for a security check at the beginning of the school day, police said.
Chicago Public Schools contracts with AMIkids to serve students with behavioral and emotional needs, officials say. The school serves CPS and non-CPS kids and has fewer than 50 students.
School officials said they believe the stabbing resulted from a previous conflict among the students, but Wormely’s relatives said they didn’t know of any problems between him and Gonzalez.

Wormely complained about gang activity at the school, his family said. He dreamed of working as a veterinarian one day.
