DeBrincat, Kane Dominating Competition at World Championships

DeBrincat and Kane each had two assists in Team USA's win over Latvia

Most of the Chicago Blackhawks have put away their hockey gear for the summer, but Alex DeBrincat is one of the driving forces behind Team USA at the World Championships.

DeBrincat, who is playing with three of his fellow Blackhawks in the tournament, was named as the Player of the Game in the American squad’s 3-2 victory over Latvia on Thursday. DeBrincat registered a pair of assists and had two shots on goal as the team remained undefeated in pool play.

Patrick Kane, who is the captain of the American squad, also had two assists in the game and had six shots on goal against the Latvians. Kane now has a goal and six assists in four games during the tournament for the 4-0 Americans.

Defensemen Jordan Oesterle and Connor Murphy are also on the American team. Murphy is averaging 19:30 per game in the tournament and has yet to get on the scoresheet, while Oesterle has an assist and a plus-3 rating.

The American side won’t have much time to rest, as they will take on Korea on Friday. The Korean side has only scored two goals in four games, and has been blown out on multiple occasions, including a 10-0 drubbing at the hands of Canada. They have given up 29 goals in their four losses.
