Thornton Mourns for Deceased Student

The teenager was found dead in a Hammond dumpster Thursday

Thornton Fractional North High School hosted a candle light vigil for one of their students who was found dead on Thursday.

16-year old Jessica Tetter was found dead in a Hammond Dumpster early Thursday according to the Lake County Coroner.  Hammond Police Chief Brian Miller says a passerby spotted the teen’s body in the 5900 block of Hyslop Place at approximately 6:02am.  Miller said it does not appear that Tetter, a resident of the 600 Block of Wentworth Avenue in Calumet City, was killed in Hammond.

Calumet City Police are holding a person of interest in custody in connection with the case, says Chief Dan Zorzi.  Zorzi declined to release any names.

The vigil will began at 8 p.m. on the TF North track field where Tretter competed in the hurdle event on the high school’s track team.
