A Fox Lake couple is finally getting a home of their own, just in time for the holidays, after a lucky lottery win.
Chuck Schriver, 54, and his wife Charlene have lived in their apartment for 24 years, but they have never owned a home together. After winning $2 million on a Merry Millionaire instant lottery ticket, they now plan to change that.
"We've never had enough space to host a big family Christmas celebration, but we will next year!" Chuck Schriver said.
Schriver bought the winning ticket at Minuteman Citgo, located at 205 N. Main St. in Wauconda. He was in his car when he scratched his $2 million winning ticket, but as soon as he got home, he signed the back of it and called his wife. He said he buys the Merry Millionaire ticket every year.
In addition to buying a home, the Schrivers plan to donate money to their church and their favorite charities.
