A 21-year-old man was also wounded during the shooting

A young man believed to be about 18-years-old was shot to death in the Far South Side West Pullman neighborhood.

Police responded to the 0 to 100 block of West 122nd Street around 1:50 a.m. Saturday to investigate a call of shots fired, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

At the scene, officers found the victim dead on the sidewalk with several gunshot wounds to the head, Alfaro said.

A 21-year-old man was also wounded in the shooting, police said. He was shot in the foot and ran to a home after the shooting, from where he called police and fire to the scene, News Affairs Officer Robert Perez said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office was not releasing the victim’s name as of about 10 a.m., but they listed his age as 17. Perez said the victim was approximately 18 years old.

As of late Saturday morning the motive for the shooting was unknown and no one was in custody.

Area South detectives are investigating.
