Nearly a Dozen Cars Stolen From Suburban Dealerships Monday Night

Multiple cars were stolen Monday night from dealerships in west suburban Villa Park and Clarendon Hills

It was discovered about 10:30 p.m. that multiple vehicles were stolen from Lucky Motors at 225 W. Roosevelt Rd., according to Villa Park Police Chief Robert Pavelchik.

Only a few hours later, in Clarendon Hills, police say six vehicles were taken from an Infinit dealership.

"They were in and out in six minutes," said Clarendon Hills Police Officer Joe Pasteris.

Once the thieves made their way into the dealership, they found the vehicles unlocked with the keys inside, police said.

At least one car has been recovered from that dealership.

Lucky Motors manager Chuck Pickerill told reporters at the scene in Villa Park that five people entered the dealership through an overhead door and stole a Bentley, a Jaguar, a Honda, a Volvo and a Mercedes.

“They were in and out in about 10 minutes,” Pickerill said.

One of the cars was later recovered in Oak Brook Terrace, while another was recovered after a crash somewhere in Chicago, Pavelchik said.

Pickerill said the Mercedes and the Volvo had been recovered as of early Tuesday.

Pasteris said the thieves seemed to have some knowledge of the "inner workings" of the dealership.

He believes the thefts may be part of some type of gang initiation or they are being shipped overseas.
