18-Year-Old Motorcyclist Killed in Crash With School Bus in Elgin

The 54-year-old driver of the school bus was not injured, and there were no students on board

An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash with a school bus Wednesday morning in northwest suburban Elgin.

The motorcycle was traveling southbound on Center Street just before 11 a.m. when it failed to stop at Chicago Street and struck the school bus which was traveling eastbound on Chicago, according to Elgin police.

The motorcyclist was taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name was not being released Wednesday afternoon.

The 54-year-old driver of the school bus was not injured, and there were no students on board, police said.

The intersection remained closed as of 2:30 p.m. as the police Traffic Unit investigates. Anyone with information should call (847) 289-2661.
