One lucky Chicago-area resident will start their weekend on the happiest of notes, as a jackpot-winning Lotto ticket worth $10.4 million was sold at a Park Ridge gas station.

The winning ticket was purchased for Thursday's drawing at a Shell gas station located at 2301 West Touhy Avenue.

The lucky winner matched all six numbers in Thursday's Lotto drawing, becoming a multi-millionaire overnight.

As a reward for selling the winning ticket, the Shell gas station will receive a $104,000 bonus, or 1% of the total prize amount.

“This morning, I told each customer, ‘Someone won big, check your tickets.’ Sure enough, someone came forward, and you should have seen their face – they were clearly shocked," store owner Mohammed Menoor said.

According to the Illinois Lottery, more than 51,000 winning tickets were sold for Thursday's drawing, part of over 670,000 winning tickets sold so far in 2024 worth over $13.5 million.

Lotto is an Illinois-only game with three drawings a week, taking place on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
