Winter Sports: Safe or Sorry?

If your kid is thinking about taking up a winter sport, you may want to hear this.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission says snowboarding causes the most injuries of all winter sports, with nearly 150,000 snowboarders needing medical care in 2007.

Skiing and sledding came in second and third with 130,000 injuries and 108,000 injuries, respectively.

That was following by ice skating, ice hockey and snowmobiling, which registered 35,000 injuries.

The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has tips on how to avoid winter sports' injuries on their Web site.
