The white stuff really started to fall yesterday, and the Bears really did lose big-time to Green Bay. Life just doesn't get any more fabulous than this, does it? (insert sarcastic eye roll here.) Just remember that we really do have great weather in this fair city from June to October, and while that's, oh, seven months away, we Chicagoans are a hearty bunch and can persevere. Here are five suggestions to stay warm through the blustery months:
1) Trick your brain into thinking you're outside in a tropical climate, but you'll really be indoors at the Garfield Park Conservatory at 300 North Central Park Ave. Denial is not just a river in Egypt, people.
2) You probably already know that the multiple locations of Lori's Shoes carries some delicious boots to keep the toes under wraps this winter, but did you know they carry hats, scarves and gloves, too? Don't wait until the end of the season this year; your appendages will thank you.
3) Sip one of the many variations of hot chocolate at – where else? Hot Chocolate. 1747 N. Damen Ave. 773-489-1747.
4) If hot chocolate is not going to cut it, seek out a holiday-themed cocktail at one of these five Chicago bars.
5) Train and run in the Fleet Feet Sports Turkey Trot 8K on Thursday, Nov. 27 or the Jingle Bell Run/Walk 5K for Arthritis Dec. 7.
