What You're Doing Today (and Tonight): March 14

Chicago goes green, students learn Latin cooking and bowlers find a cause

GO GREEN: Today's the day the Chicago River turns green (watch the dye job near Columbus Drive at 10:45AM), and the downtown St. Patrick's Day Parade marches (step off is at Columbus and Balbo drives at noon). Both are Chicago traditions, and neither is to be missed. Free.

CAN'T STAND THE HEAT: Head to Carnivale today to learn how to make two Latin classics -- ceviche and guacamole. Executive chef Mark Mendez will lead the lesson while students enjoy seasonal mimosas. 12-2PM, $25 per person.

BOW WOW BOWLING: Enjoy a night of bowling for a good cause at "Pet Bowl," a benefit for Alive Rescue at Lincoln Square Lanes. 6:30-9PM, $35 includes bowling, shoe rental, pizza and dessert.
