A quick glance out the window at our location here at the NBC Tower confirms that the Chicago River is already a strange hue of green. So we're guessing Saturday's event to dye the river green is either an old tradition that we're not willing to give up, or part of some sort of go green -- or greener movement.
At the very least, it's a good time, and a great place to enjoy the festivities is at the St. Patrick's Day "Dye the River Green" party at Fulton's On The River (315 North LaSalle) between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The actual ceremony takes place at 10:45 a.m.
The restaurant offers a prime view of the river, and will be celebrating with bag pipers and a full menu of Irish-themed food and drinks.
Fulton's veranda will be equipped with space heaters to keep everyone warm during the festivities.
Guests can enjoy Kegs N' Eggs until noon –- egg sandwiches served with corn beef hash, and classic Ruben sandwiches with chips are available until 4 pm.
Green Miller Light drafts, Guinness, and Irish Coffee will also be available, along with a specialty St. Patrick's Day cocktail menu.
No reservations are required. Call (312) 822-0100 for more information.
