Tallgrass, consistently voted one of the area's best restaurants (including Zagat's top French restaurant in Chicago honors for 2008-2009), has a lot to celebrate this year. The Lockport restaurant will get into the holiday spirit by hosting a "Christmas Carol" dinner from Wednesday, Dec. 17 through Wednesday, Dec. 24 (otherwise known as Christmas Eve).
You may remember Ebenezer Scrooge helped Tiny Tim and his family feast upon a Christmas goose in the timeless Charles Dickens tale (spoiler alert!). Tallgrass chef Robert Burcenski will indeed be cooking up goose, along with other traditional holiday favorites. The four-course menu consists of "cockaleekie" soup with chicken and leeks, potted shrimp, roast goose with sausage stuffing and cumberland sauce, and plum pudding with brandy butter. The dinner is $55 per person, and Tallgrass maitre'd Thomas Alves can pair the dinner with a special holiday wine flight for an additional $35.
Reservations are available between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. and can be made by calling 815-838-5566.
