"Pets @ Paulina" is a pet adoption event that aims to get the entire West Lakeview neighborhood involved. The brainchild of pet boutique Sam & Willy's owners Tom Daniels and Melissa Stevens, who saw a need for a large-scale event due to more pets being left at shelters during these tough economic times, "Pets @ Paulina" will take place at the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Paulina Street from noon-3PM on Saturday, June 6.
Several Chicago-area animal shelters and rescue groups, such as Chicago Canine Rescue, Puppy Love/Love Cats Pet Rescue and New Leash on Life, will be on hand with adoptable dogs and cats during the street-wide event, which will involve neighborhood businesses that have donated their support and storefronts to the effort. Participating sponsors include such West Lakeview spots as Dinkels Bakery, Finley Dunne's Tavern and Frasca Pizzeria and Wine Bar.
In fact, Frasca will offer new pet owners free pizza on its pooch-friendly patio during the "Pets @ Paulina" event from noon-11PM. Your new best friend can also be treated to organic smoked pig's ears for $3. And they call it puppy love.
