ESPN personality and former Sun-Times columnist Jay Mariotti is on suspension.
The bombastic sportswriter has been placed on an indefinite time-out from AOL's FanHouse, after claims surfaced that he abused his girlfriend, reports the Sun-Times.
Mariotti, 51, was arrested last week and released on $50,000 bail on charges of felony domestic violence. He reportedly pushed and shoved his girlfriend, leaving marks on her arms.
In a statement an AOL spokewoman said, "We are continuing to gather all the facts. In the meantime, we have suspended Jay Mariotti and are not featuring any new work from him." She declined to elaborate on what the company had learned since his arrest.
He was also a regular on ESPN's "Around the Horn", but has not made an appearance since his arrest. ESPN has not suspended him, but a spokesman says he "is not scheduled to be on next week."
