Kanye West is a riddle wrapped in an enigma shrouded in Louis Vuitton. The "proud non-reader of books" has, in true Kanye fashion, written a book. You may have heard of it; it's called "Thank You and You're Welcome," and it's 52 pages long. For this, he hired the services of J. Sakiya Sandifer, a Chicago-based entrepreneur and owner of We Think LLC, a forward-thinking branding and marketing firm.
Even though Sakiya (as he's known) gets a co-author plug, we think it's really his graphic design background that came into play here. "Thank You and You're Welcome" is made up of "Kanye-isms" in large, bulky fonts, and some of the pages are (intentionally?) left blank, perhaps to scribble your own-isms. (Oddly enough, on Sakiya's The Think Movement blog, we found evidence of a similar-sounding book of "Sakiya-isms" called "Think Think Think and Think Again," published in 2006. FYI: "A Book of Questions and One Answer" is due this fall.)
Sakiya will attend a book party at JBar at The James Chicago hotel at 8:30PM this Wednesday, July 22 to sign copies of "Thank You and You're Welcome." (At least he'll be adding some additional words to the pages.) The appearance will be part of JBar's "Superfun Wednesdays," an on-trend night of $6 Svedka Vodka cocktails, $2 mini burgers from chef Rick Gresh and hip-hop DJs.
