Halloween in the City

Chicago loves Halloween like no other holiday. In fact, the city has coined a term for this love affair: Chicagoween.  The celebration's central Haunted Village, located at Franken (a.k.a. Daley, har, har) Plaza opens this Friday at 5 p.m. with two performances from Midnight Circus. The village stays open through Halloween Monday-Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Kids can decorate pumpkins, listen to spooky storytellers and watch Midnight Circus performances at various times. Admission is free.

As part of the festivities, kids can march in costume in the State Street Halloween Happening Parade on Saturday, Oct. 25.  It starts at noon at the corner of State and Randolph Streets.  Afterwards, enjoy trick-or-treating, more Midnight Circus and a costume contest at Daley Plaza.  And everything is the best possible price: Free!
