Two people are dead and two others injured after a fire broke out in an apartment in Chicago's West Side Austin neighborhood early this morning.
The dead were a wheelchair-bound 57-year-old man and a woman in her 70s who had been taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded to the blaze at 1622 N. McVicker Ave at about 5:25 a.m. Flames could be seen billowing from the windows, but officials are still working to determine the cause of the blaze.
A total of four people were reportedly trapped inside the burning building.
A bystander tried to pull one of the victims out of the first floor but failed, according to the Chicago Tribune.
